Motorists and commuters are warned about overnight road closures on the Hibiscus Coast, starting from tomorrow (5/3) night.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency said the closures are in place for improvements on the motorways. 

Any work delays due to bad weather will be completed at the next available date, prior to Friday, 10 March.

The overnight road closures will be from 9pm until 5am, from Sunday, 5 March until Thursday, 9 March.

There are some roads with different days and times which are indicated in brackets.

On the Northern Motorway (SH1), the following road closures will take place in the Hibiscus Coast area: 

• Southbound lanes between the Waiwera off-ramp and Silverdale on-ramp
• Orewa southbound on-ramp
• Millwater southbound on-ramp
• northbound lanes between Silverdale off-ramp and Waiwera on-ramp (from about 10pm to 5pm)
• Orewa northbound on-ramp
• Silverdale northbound on-ramp

The road closures occurring in neighbouring areas, but will still affect traffic to and from the Hibiscus Coast are:

• Southbound lanes between Oteha Valley Road off-ramp and Greville Road on-ramp (5 March)
• Oteha Valley Road southbound on-ramp (5 March)
• Southbound lanes between Oteha Valley Road off-ramp and Greville Road on-ramp (6-8 March, from 8pm to 5am)
• Oteha Valley Road southbound on-ramp (6-8 March, from 8pm to 5am)
• Northbound lanes between Greville Road off-ramp and Oteha Valley Road on-ramp, (8-9 March, from 9.30pm to 5am)
• Greville Road northbound on-ramp (8-9 March)
• Southbound lanes between Greville Road off-ramp and Tristram Avenue on-ramp (9 March)
• Greville Road southbound on-ramp (9 March)
• Upper Harbour Highway southbound on-ramp (9 March)
• Upper Harbour Highway southbound off-ramp (5 March).
• Northbound lanes between Upper Harbour Highway off-ramp and Greville Road on-ramp (6-7 March, from 10pm to 5am)
• Northbound lanes between Tristram Avenue off-ramp and Greville Road on-ramp (5 March, from 10pm to 5am)
• Upper Harbour Highway northbound on-ramp (5-7 March, from 10pm to 5am)
• Tristram Avenue northbound on-ramp (5 March, from 10pm to 5am)
• Esmonde Road northbound off-ramp, (5 March)
• Shelly Beach Road southbound off-ramp (5-9 March, from 9:30pm to 5am)

On the Upper Harbour Motorway (SH18), the road closures that will affect traffic to and from the Hibiscus Coast Highway is:

• Eastbound lanes between Albany Highway off-ramp and Paul Mathews Road (9 March)
• Albany Highway eastbound on-ramp (9 March) and SH18 eastbound to SH1 northbound link (5-7 March)

There will be signposted detours in place.
