Drivers on the Hibiscus Coast are being warned about urgent overnight maintenance on State Highway 1 between Grand Drive, Orewa and Millwater after damage to wire ropes in an incident over the weekend.

Truck Crash Causes Motorway Delays

NZTA says site investigation will take place tonight, Monday, November 24, between 12am and 5am to confirm the scope of repairs.

The main repair work is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25 and Thursday, November 27 between 9pm and 5am.

Lane restrictions will be in place in both directions on SH1 while crews fix the damaged wire rope barriers.

Traffic will still be able to travel north and south throughout the work, but drivers are asked to slow down and follow all traffic management instructions.

The work is weather dependent, so timings may change if conditions do not allow crews to work safely.
