Penlink project progresses in various areasConstruction progressing well across multiple sites.

The Penlink project is in full swing, with significant progress being made across various zones as outlined in the project zone map.

Here's a breakdown of recent developments:

SH1 and East Coast Road (Zone 1)

Construction is underway on temporary structures for the SH1 Bridge and foundations are being dug.

Stream diversion and culvert works are ongoing at East Coast Road, with wick drains nearly complete and bridge abutment construction progressing.

Ara Wēiti Road (Zone 2)

Power lines have been temporarily relocated to allow for underground placement in the future.

Construction has begun on two sediment retention ponds and an access track near the project's main office.

Link Roads (Zone 2)

Two sediment retention ponds and drainage systems are being built near Link Roads 1 and 2.

Over 90 eels were successfully relocated before work began in Link Road 2.

Stillwater (Zone 3)

Work continues on a temporary diversion road for a section of Duck Creek Road, scheduled to open in May.

Earthworks are also underway to fill a nearby gully.

Preparations have started for the foundations of Pier 3 on the Wēiti River Bridge.

Duck Creek Road (Zone 3)

Construction of the Duck Creek Road Bridge is progressing well, with bridge deck beams scheduled to be installed in mid-April.

Earthworks in the pine forest area have moved over 160,000 cubic metres of material so far.

Whangaparāoa (Zone 4)

Sewer lines are being relocated, and drainage systems are being built.

Major earthworks have begun to lower a hill by the Wēiti River and fill a nearby gully.

New Access Track Improves Efficiency within Zone 2

A significant development is the completion of a 1025-meter access track connecting the Ara Wēiti Road site to the Duck Creek Road site within Zone 2.

This track, built in challenging terrain, will significantly reduce transport times and costs for machinery and construction materials.

The Penlink project is on track for completion in late 2026, aiming to improve traffic flow and accessibility for Hibiscus Coast residents.
