The Auckland Maritime Unit, in collaboration with the police, is urging the public for any possible leads on a missing swimmer near Gulf Harbour Marina.
The individual was reported in distress on the evening of Sunday, January 14th, prompting emergency services to respond swiftly to Whangaparāoa Peninsula.
The male swimmer was observed encountering difficulties in the water, prompting an immediate coordinated effort by the police and Coastguard to conduct an extensive search in the vicinity.
Despite ten days of exhaustive efforts, the missing individual has not yet been located.
In a recent development, the police have decided to suspend the search operations, pending the emergence of further information.
This decision reflects the current status of the investigation, emphasising the need for additional leads to progress the search.
Authorities are calling upon individuals who may have witnessed a person entering the water, specifically from the rock breakwater near the entrance to Gulf Harbour Marina.
The timeframe of interest spans from 4 to 8 pm.
