Police seek public assistance in search for missing swimmer off Gulf Harbour Marina

The Police Auckland Maritime Unit, in collaboration with local authorities, is intensifying efforts to locate a missing swimmer near the Gulf Harbour Marina.

Authorities are reaching out to the public for any potential sightings or information that may aid in the ongoing search.

The incident unfolded on the evening of Sunday, 14th January, triggering a swift response from emergency services after a concerned observer reported a male swimmer struggling in the waters around the rock breakwater, close to the entrance of the Gulf Harbour Marina.

The individual was last seen entering the water between 8 and 9 pm.

Over the past few days, the police, supported by the Coastguard, have diligently scoured the immediate vicinity in hopes of locating the missing swimmer.

Regrettably, these efforts have not yielded any results, prompting authorities to broaden their approach.

The search operation, now entering a critical phase, is appealing to the community for assistance.

Law enforcement is urging anyone who may have witnessed the male swimmer venturing out from the breakwater or possesses any relevant information to come forward and contact the police.

Individuals willing to contribute to the ongoing search can share their information through the 105 phone service or conveniently submit details online https://www.police.govt.nz/use-105, using the Update My Report platform.

When providing information, please reference file number 240115/5399 to ensure accuracy and expedite the investigative process.

As searchers tirelessly continue their efforts, the cooperation of the public becomes invaluable.

The Auckland Maritime Unit, along with its collaborative partners, remains committed to a thorough search operation until the missing swimmer is located.
