Night maintenance is now underway on State Highway 1 between Puhoi and Warkworth.

Work is scheduled Monday to Thursday, from 6pm to 5am, over the next four weeks.

NZTA says crews will be operating in both directions using designated maintenance bays.

SH1 will remain open, but traffic management and reduced speed limits will be in place overnight.

This stretch of motorway is a key link for Coasties heading north—whether it’s a work trip, a quick getaway, or visiting whānau.

While delays are expected to be minimal, drivers are being asked to slow down and take care.

Crews will be working in live traffic lanes.

The Puhoi to Warkworth extension is the first part of the wider corridor upgrade to Wellsford.

It’s designed to ease congestion and improve safety—and it's already making that northbound run quicker and more reliable.

If you’re travelling after dark, keep an eye out for signs, plan a little extra time, and stay safe.
