A person has been rescued from a fire in a two-storey home in Totāra Vale.

The house caught fire early this morning, trapping one person inside.

Three fire crews arrived at the scene in Girrahween Drive just before 6 am and quickly rescued the person who was now in hospital.

Emergency services said the blaze was well-involved by the time they arrived, but it has since been contained.

While two other people managed to escape unharmed, one was rescued and taken to the hospital in a serious condition.

Two crews were still on the scene damping down hot spots while investigators determine the cause.
