Coasties, be prepared for a planned overnight closure on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Orewa and Silverdale interchanges.

The NZ Transport Agency has scheduled maintenance work for Monday, December 16, from 9 pm to 5 am.

The closure will affect both directions, with the Orewa (Grand Drive) southbound on-ramp, Millwater (Wainui Road) southbound on-ramp, and Silverdale southbound off-ramp closed during this time.

A recommended detour will be in place via Grand Drive, West Hoe Road, Florence Ave, Centreway Road, Twin Coast Discovery Highway to the Silverdale southbound on-ramp.

However, please note that vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will not be able to use Grand Drive and will need to take an alternative route.

Residents can expect increased noise levels due to the maintenance activities, including road cutting and vegetation control.
