The Rumour, a New Zealand band, had a special day. Their star on the New Zealand Walk of Fame was officially unveiled this afternoon in Orewa.

The Rumour was a New Zealand pop/rock music band that toured with and/or supported overseas acts such as The Beach Boys, Neil Sedaka, Cilla Black, and many others in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Band members included; Gerard Smith, Shade Smith, Ross Hindman, Jacques Koolen, Barry Rushton and Judy Hindman (nee Donaldson).

The Rumour succeeded in the New Zealand pop scene with the chart-topping hit "L'amour Est L'enfant de la Liberté," which spent four weeks at the top of the New Zealand charts, and achieved double gold with sales of more than 125,000 copies.
