Three in custody following burglary with stolen items recovered

In an overnight burglary in Takapuna, three individuals have been taken into custody by the police.

The incident occurred around 1 am when the police were alerted to a burglary at a commercial premise on Lake Road.

It is believed that the perpetrators used a vehicle to gain entry into the shop.

The three offenders entered the shop and stole vapes and vape liquids before leaving the premises in a different vehicle.

However, with the help of the police helicopter "Eagle," the vehicle was traced heading along State Highway 18 towards the city.

The police successfully spiked and stopped the vehicle shortly after, arresting the three individuals without any resistance.

The stolen items were recovered and will be returned to the store owner.

The staff acted promptly and identified the suspects believed to be involved in the burglary.

Inspector Stefan Sagar, Area Commander Waitematā East, acknowledged the concerns of the community regarding such incidents and expressed pleasure in announcing the arrests.

The police have no tolerance for this type of behaviour that causes immense distress to the victims.

While a 15-year-old male is scheduled to appear in the North Shore Youth Court today, the other two offenders are set to appear on May 10th.
