Toy Duck Recalled Over Choking HazardMightyApe urges customers to dispose of affected toys.

A popular toy duck, sold on MightyApe on 25 March 2025, has been recalled due to a defect that poses a choking hazard to young children.

The issue, identified in one of the toy’s components, could cause a child to choke if it becomes detached.

The product, designed for children under 36 months of age, does not meet the children's toy safety standards, which require that toys for young children must not have small parts that could be pulled apart or break off.

MightyApe has urged all customers who purchased the toy to stop using it immediately, keep it out of children's reach, and safely dispose of it.

NZ toy safety standards ensure that toys for children aged three and under are thoroughly tested, including a bite test and drop test, to ensure no small parts will break off.

The acceptable size for toys in this age group is typically around the size of a ping pong ball to mitigate any choking risk.
