Watercare is demolishing an old pump station along East Coast Road which will result in traffic delays.

The work started on Monday and is expected to last for the next four weeks. 

The demolition will take place in Redvale (outside Envirofill).

The shoulder of the road will be closed and a speed reduction will be in place. 

The nearby bus stop will remain open. 

Due to the growth spurt that has hit the Hibiscus Coast, Watercare has installed a new boost water pump station, just under a kilometer from the old station. 

The new Hibiscus Coast pump station will allow an additional 34 million litres of water per day to flow through the pipes to Orewa, Whangaparaoa, Red Beach, Dairy Flat, Silverdale and Wainui.
