Starting 1 August 2024, The Doctors Red Beach will no longer offer urgent care walk-in services.
While the urgent care facility will close, regular GP hours and services will remain unchanged.
The decision to close the walk-in service was announced via social media, where the practice acknowledged the potential impact on the community.
In their statement, they expressed that the choice was made after careful consideration.
The nurses, who have served the community for over 20 years, thanked residents for their support and shared their sentiments of missing their patients.
Some staff members have already secured new positions, while others are still seeking employment.
Coincidentally, The Doctors Red Beach is advertising a permanent position for a General Practitioner (GP) to join their clinic, aiming to continue providing high-quality healthcare services to the community.
For urgent medical needs, residents of the Hibiscus Coast will now need to visit Silverdale Medical or call 111 in case of an emergency.
This change has raised concerns among locals about the reduced options for immediate medical care and the increasing costs associated with such visits.
The growing population in the area amplifies these concerns, highlighting the need for accessible urgent medical services.
