This just in. NZTA has announced urgent maintenance work on State Highway 1 (SH1) from the Silverdale interchange to Oteha Valley Road, starting tomorrow, 2 May.
The work will take place during the day from 11am to 7pm, with further works scheduled from Sunday 4 May to Thursday 8 May, both during the day and overnight.
The work, which is expected to finish by June 2025, involves slip remediation and will result in southbound lane restrictions.
Motorists are advised to slow down and follow traffic management instructions, as there will be increased noise levels during the process.
Additionally, there will be closures in the area as part of other ongoing projects.
The Penlink project will close both directions between Oteha Valley Road and Silverdale interchange from 6 to 8 May between 9pm and 5am.
There will also be a full closure of the SH1 southbound to SH18 westbound link from Sunday 4 May to Thursday 8 May, between 9pm and 5am.
Please note, the work is weather-dependent, and dates may change.
NZTA say this maintenance may cause temporary disruptions, but the work is essential for improving safety and the road network.
