Water Rates Rise from July7.2% increase to fund future upgrades.

Watercare has confirmed that from 1 July 2025, water and wastewater charges will rise by 7.2%, meaning most Hibiscus Coast households can expect to pay around $7 more each month.

The price change supports a long-term investment plan worth $13.8 billion, aimed at upgrading Auckland’s water and wastewater systems.

More than 1,000 projects are planned over the next decade to keep services reliable and ready for future growth.

That includes replacing ageing pipes, improving treatment plants, and building new infrastructure to support housing developments.

A key focus is also on protecting local waterways by upgrading wastewater networks.

For homes on water meters, the new fixed charge is $332 per year.

The water use rate will be $2.296 per 1,000 litres, and wastewater use will cost $3.994 per 1,000 litres.

For those not on metered water but still connected to the wastewater system, the annual charge is $1,021.

All prices include GST.

While no one enjoys seeing their bill go up, Watercare says these improvements are essential.

As more families move into the Hibiscus Coast and our weather becomes less predictable, making sure the pipes and systems beneath our streets can cope is a challenge nobody can afford to ignore.
