Coasties brace for a blustery start to July, with MetService predicting a northward progression of rain again tomorrow.
According to meteorologist John Law, low pressure to the south is driving strong winds, particularly affecting western-facing mountain regions with heavy rainfall expected.
"This weather pattern brings colder air," Law stated.
"Northland and parts of Auckland could see their chilliest day this year on Friday, with highs in Whangārei and Auckland City peaking at just 13°C."
The week ahead promises a shift to drier conditions but maintaining chilly temperatures, marking a reminder of winter's onset.
