Wet start expected for North Auckland: 29-hour Heavy Rain Watch in effectHeavy Rain Watch

Residents of the Hibiscus Coast and in Northland are advised to prepare for a wet start to the week as heavy rain watches have been issued by MetService.

The 29-hour heavy rain watch will be in effect from 10 pm on Sunday, September 3rd, through to 3 am on Tuesday, September 5th.

Subtropical air is set to influence the upper North Island, bringing with it a slow-moving band of rain that is expected to deliver periods of heavy rain.

There is a risk that this rain band could become stationary at times, leading to increased rainfall accumulation in localised areas, particularly in the east.

In some regions, these rainfall amounts may approach warning criteria.

Additionally, thunderstorms are possible in Northland during Monday morning.

Please note that due to uncertainties, the period of this watch could be subject to change.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions in case of heavy rain and potential flooding.
