Whangaparaoa Principal Takes Chair RoleSteve McCracken takes national chair role.

There’s a steady kind of pride when someone local takes on a national job.

Whangaparaoa College principal Steve McCracken has recently become Chairperson of the Secondary Principals Council (SPC) in Aotearoa New Zealand, the body that advocates for the unique needs of secondary and area school principals.

The Council is made up of elected representatives from across the country.

It also has specific roles for Maori, women, and Area School principals, so a wider mix of voices is built into its leadership.

As chair, McCracken will help steer that advocacy work and represent principals’ interests at a national level.

For the Hibiscus Coast, it is a simple reminder that local school leadership can carry real weight well beyond the school gate.
