Supermarket chain Woolworths is increasing the price and minimum spend required for its 'Delivery Saver' option .

Delivery Saver allows customers to pay a fee in return for no delivery fees on their orders, provided they reach an order value threshold.

This used to cost $118 per six months but Woolworths said on Monday it was increasing this to $132.99 for six months.

The minimum that has to be spent to receive free delivery will also increase from $80 to $100.

Woolworths said it had not increased its Delivery Saver price in five years.

"But with fuel, wages, and maintenance costs rising, we need to adjust the subscription to keep delivering your order straight to your door."

The new price starts on 1 October and applies to subscription renewal from that point.
