The chirpy voice we hear early in the mornings on More FM has strong family ties to the Hibiscus Coast.
Estelle Clifford is the new presenter on More FM Rodney, based in Orewa after Brent Harbour left in December.
She started at the local radio station at the beginning of March and is thrilled to be in the More FM seat.
Although she has lived in various areas on the North Island, she has strong ties to the Hibiscus Coast as she spent time here when she was young.
“I grew up in Wellington, but my grandparents and mum are proud Aucklanders, and I remember spending summers in Orewa when I was little,” she says.
“Who knew that I would accept a job offer here and move to the area that I loved spending my summers in.”
Estelle and her husband Gibby are both actors and met while at an audition in Wellington.
“We always said we’ll never move to Auckland and look at us now,” she laughs. “Thirteen years later, in Auckland!”
They lived in Whangarei for two years where she worked on More FM Northland, then moved to Titirangi thirteen years ago after she accepted a role at The Hits in the city.
Estelle and Gibby packed up their home and moved to the sunny shores of the Hibiscus Coast, and settled into their new home with their almost four-year-old daughter Ava.
“I was really worried that the move would affect Ava but she is loving it,” says Estelle.
“It is such an amazing area and the kindy that Ava is in is absolutely amazing. She wakes up happy in the mornings and is super keen to get to school. I’m very happy that we’ve chosen to move here as I know Ava will have a better life here.”
Estelle is no stranger to the big screen either. She studied performing arts and has appeared as an extra in major feature films (King Kong, 2004) and smaller feature films.
She can also be seen in several television advertisements including KFC, The Hello Project (Help Joan), One Choice and Bell Tea.
Estelle is very eager to hear from the locals and urges them to message her: Rodney to 559.
You can also text Catch to 559 and she will send you the link to the More FM social media pages.
When Estelle is not on the radio, then she has her nose in a novel or is out swimming. She says if she wasn’t a radio presenter, then she’d be a full-time actor or a beach bum!
The Hibiscus Coast App is proud to welcome the new Coastie and her family to our shores.
