Tesla catches fire on Auckland's Harbour Bridge

Late on Thursday night, a vehicle caught fire on Auckland’s Harbour Bridge, causing a major disruption for motorists.

Witnesses reported seeing huge flames and thick smoke billowing from the scene.

Fire crews were called to the scene just before 11.30 pm to find a white Tesla engulfed in flames.

The car had been travelling northbound on the bridge when the fire broke out.

The fire lasted for over an hour, and two fire trucks attended the scene.

Fire and Emergency confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.

The vehicle sustained significant damage, with photos showing the front of the Tesla completely torched.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, and authorities are investigating the incident.

Northern fire communications shift manager Daniel Nicholson reported that the vehicle was well-involved when firefighters arrived and confirmed that the car was badly damaged.

Following the incident, the vehicle was towed to a storage facility in South Auckland.

Unverified reports say that driving with a flat tyre while intoxicated may be involved.
