Auckland FC bounced back from last week's defeat with a convincing 4-1 away victory over the Central Coast Mariners, reclaiming their position at the top of the league table.
The match saw Auckland FC welcome experienced centre-back Tommy Smith to the starting lineup, allowing Hiroki Sakai to shift to right-back.
This tactical adjustment paid off early, as Sakai headed in a cross from Francis de Vries in the 22nd minute.
However, the lead was short-lived, as Alfie McCalmont equalised for the Mariners just three minutes later.
Auckland reclaimed the lead with a stunning volley from Jake Brimmer in the 31st minute.
Guillermo May extended Auckland's lead in the 39th minute, tapping in a cross from de Vries.
The second half saw the Mariners apply pressure, but Auckland sealed the win with a late goal from substitute Rogerson.
Auckland FC will host Melbourne Victory on New Year's Day, with tickets available online here.
