AKL Airport duty-free layout will shift.Jetting off soon?
Hibiscus Coast travellers will see duty-free construction at Auckland Airport, with shops staying open during a late-2026 upgrade.
Work has started in the international terminal’s airside duty-free area, and it will be done in stages over the coming year.
If you’re heading through departures, you may notice temporary hoardings and ceilings going up beyond security.
In the months ahead, staged work is due to move into the arrivals duty-free space too.
Expect the layout to change as temporary shopping bays appear.
Some stores will be shifted to new spots while the refurbishment continues.
The airport says wide walkways will be kept, and duty-free stores will keep trading during the works.
The upgrade is due to be completed in late 2026, with changes introduced progressively as the fit-out rolls on.
