Aucklanders have woken up to a thick blanket of fog covering the city, causing flight delays at Auckland Airport.

The fog restrictions were put in place at 1.10am this morning, with approximately 11 regional flights and three main trunk domestic flights delayed.

However, international flights have not been affected.

NZTA is also urging motorists to take extra care on the roads this morning due to reduced visibility.
