The closure of the Gulf Harbour Country Club has not stopped golfers from playing a quick round of golf.
Despite its closure, golfers are using makeshift flags and are not allowing the once-championship course go to waste.
The abandoned golf course closed abruptly in July, leaving members who had paid the annual fee of $3,000 feeling very despondent.
Discussions are underway about the future of the course, with the Keep Whangaparāoa's Green Space (KWGS) group fighting to keep the course open.
Many neighbouring residents are opposed to a large-scale development in its place as the area is already congested.
They are concerned that the closure will have a negative impact on surrounding properties, with some already seeing a decrease in their property values.
