Coasties should prepare for overnight disruptions as NZ Transport Agency announces essential motorway improvements.

Scheduled for the night of July 11, significant closures will affect both northbound and southbound lanes between Orewa and Silverdale.

Southbound traffic will face interruptions from the Orewa off-ramp to Silverdale on-ramp, alongside closures at Orewa and Millwater on-ramps.

Northbound lanes will also be impacted from Silverdale to Orewa, with the Silverdale on-ramp affected.

"These closures are necessary to enhance safety and efficiency," stated NZ Transport Agency spokesperson.

Detours will be signposted to assist drivers during the 9 pm to 5 am closures.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

The improvements aim to bolster infrastructure and minimise future disruptions.

Local commuters are urged to stay informed about alternate routes and timing adjustments to avoid inconvenience.
