Overnight motorway closures between Silverdale and Oteha will affect many Hibiscus Coast drivers next Wednesday.

NZTA says State Highway 1 southbound between the Silverdale interchange and Oteha Valley Road will be closed for maintenance from 9pm to 5am on Wednesday, December 3.

The work is weather dependent, with a full southbound closure in place for general maintenance along this stretch.

During the closure, the Silverdale southbound on-ramp and the Oteha Valley Road southbound off-ramp will also be closed.

Signposted detours will guide traffic.

The recommended detour is via Twin Coast Discovery Highway, Dairy Flat Highway and Oteha Valley Road.

Drivers travelling south from the Hibiscus Coast during these hours are recommended to follow the detour.
