Coasties, heads up! The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is reminding all motorists about planned closures on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Silverdale and Warkworth starting tonight.
These closures are part of road resurfacing and essential maintenance work to keep our highways safe and smooth.
For those heading northbound, a full overnight closure will be in place from Silverdale to Warkworth, including the Johnstones Hill tunnels.
The closure starts tonight, Tuesday, 17 September, from 9 pm, and will continue until 5 am tomorrow, Wednesday, 18 September.
A detour will be clearly signposted, directing traffic via Hibiscus Coast and Old State Highway 1.
Southbound traffic will face a full closure tomorrow night, Wednesday, 18 September, from 9 pm until 5 am on Thursday, 19 September, between Warkworth and Silverdale.
Motorists are advised to follow the same detour using Old State Highway 1 and Hibiscus Coast Highway.
The Johnstones Hill tunnels will remain reduced to one lane in each direction until 5 am on Friday, 20 September.
However, over-dimension vehicles cannot use the contraflow through the tunnels.
NZTA asks drivers of such vehicles to contact them in advance at [email protected] for further instructions.
