SH1 Disruptions Ahead, 14-18 Jan MaintenanceMotorway maintenance work between Silverdale and Esmonde Road.

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has advised the public about essential maintenance work scheduled on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Silverdale and Esmonde Road.


The maintenance is set to take place from the 14th to the 18th of January, with various closures and detours outlined for specific sections of the highway.





Silverdale Interchange to Oteha Valley Road (14 to 18 January, 9pm to 5am):


  • Full southbound closure.
  • Closure of Silverdale southbound on-ramp and Oteha Valley Road southbound off-ramp.
  • Recommended detour: Dairy Flats Highway and Albany Highway.
  • Increased noise levels due to road cutting and vegetation control.
  • Note: Closure extension to Greville Road on 16th and 17th January for Northern Corridor Improvement project work.



Northern Busway (Smales Farm to Akoranga Bus Station, 15 to 17 January, 4am to 4pm):


  • Full southbound closure.
  • Recommended detour: Refer to Auckland Transport journey planner for alternative transport routes.
  • Increased noise levels during barrier installation.


Northcote Road to Esmonde Road (14 January, 10pm to 5am):


  • Full southbound closure.
  • Closure of Northcote Road southbound on-ramp and Esmonde Road southbound off-ramp.
  • Recommended detour: Northcote Road, Taharoto Road, and Fred Thomas Drive.
  • Increased noise levels due to road cutting and vegetation control.


Tristram Avenue to Constellation Drive (16 to 18 January, 10pm to 5am):

  • Full northbound closure.
  • Closure of Tristram Ave northbound on-ramp and Upper Harbour Highway/Constellation Drive northbound off-ramp.
  • Recommended detour: Tristram Avenue, Forrest Hill Road, East Coast Road, and Constellation Drive.
  • Increased noise levels during paving activities.





The NZTA emphasizes that the schedule is weather-dependent and may be subject to change.
