A heads-up for Coasties: MetService has issued a Heavy Rain and Strong Wind Watch from midday to 9pm today.
It’s not unusual weather for this time of year, but it’s worth being prepared.
Rain is expected to pick up from midday, and some areas may see short bursts of heavier downpours and a few rumbles of thunder.
Winds will be breezy, especially in exposed spots, with gusts possibly reaching up to 100km/h before easing later this evening.
MetService says there’s a moderate chance the watch could be upgraded if things intensify, but for now it’s simply a reminder to stay weather-aware.
Everything’s expected to ease tonight, with drier skies heading into tomorrow.
