Tree Brings Down Lines in Silverdale (Updated)Highway Closed, Major Diversions in Place

A fallen tree has brought down power lines across Wade Bridge on Hibiscus Coast Highway, causing a full road closure and major traffic disruptions in Silverdale.

The highway is currently closed between East Coast Road and Whangaparāoa Road.

All traffic travelling to or from Orewa and Whangaparāoa must now use the Millwater or Orewa motorway interchanges.

While the Silverdale interchange remains open, motorists are strongly advised to use Orewa and Millwater as alternative routes to SH1.

Local diversions are in place via East Coast and Tavern roads, but traffic is already building across the area.

Lines contractors are on site and working to clear the tree and restore power.

Coasties are urged to avoid the Silverdale area altogether if possible, with congestion likely in all surrounding streets.

Please continue to take care on the roads and expect delays as crews work to resolve the situation.
