Coast commuters should brace for night closures on SH1 between Silverdale and Warkworth from Sunday 14 to Friday 19 September.

The Johnstone Hill Tunnels will be under maintenance all week, with northbound lanes shut from 9pm Sunday 14 to 5am Wednesday 17 September.

Southbound lanes then close from 5am Wednesday 17 to 5am Friday 19 September.

Traffic will still move both ways, sharing a single lane in the opposite tunnel.

On Tuesday 16 September, the northbound stretch from Silverdale to Warkworth will be fully closed overnight for paving.

NZTA advises ramps at Silverdale, Millwater, Orewa, and Puhoi will also be shut, with detours via Hibiscus Coast Highway and Old SH1.

The next night, Wednesday 17 September, southbound lanes from Warkworth to Silverdale will close overnight.

Ramps at Puhoi, Orewa, Millwater, and Silverdale will all be affected, with detours again using Old SH1 and Hibiscus Coast Highway.
