United Airlines has announced changes to its Northern Winter 2024/2025 long-haul schedule, canceling its Los Angeles (LAX) to Auckland (AKL) route.

The airline had only recently launched the Los Angeles to Auckland and Brisbane routes last winter but has decided not to operate them for the upcoming winter season.

Despite this, joint venture partner Air New Zealand will continue to fly between Los Angeles and Auckland, with plans to operate 12 weekly flights this winter.

This comes as both Australia and New Zealand have seen an increase in capacity from U.S. carriers in recent seasons.

Delta Air Lines launched a new Los Angeles to Auckland route last winter, while American Airlines restarted its Los Angeles to Auckland route.

These changes reflect the dynamic nature of the airline industry, with carriers continually assessing demand and adjusting their schedules accordingly.
