After consultation with staff, the difficult decision was made to close the ANZ Orewa branch. It will be closed effective 17 March.

Orewa is one of two branches in the area and has been open to the public two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9.30 – 4.30).

There’s also a Smart ATM on site which will remain available so that customers can withdraw or deposit cash. 

An ANZ spokesperson said, "to ensure we can continue to meet the needs of the community, we will soon begin renovations to enhance our Silverdale branch, which is open seven days a week, 9am – 4.30pm, and 10am – 4pm on Sundays."

"We also have a range of other channels available to all our customers for their banking including digital banking via our website or GoMoney app, telephone banking or by visiting the Silverdale branch, around 10 minutes’ drive away."

"Like the majority of branch closures, this followed a decline in in-branch transactions which is a trend we’re seeing nationally and across the globe."

"More Kiwis are banking digitally or by calling our Contact Centre, rather than coming into the branch. We expect this trend to continue."
